Fax Machine

By Luigi Mario

Intro

Lets say you made this really cool clay sculpture in art class that you want to show to your grand parents that live in England or something.  But instead of just faxing a description or a picture of it, you use the fax machine to fax an almost exact duplicate of your sculpture all the way to England.  If youŐre interested, read my report about the fax machine.  I will be talking about what it is and how it works, buying and using it, and history and future about the fax machine.

What it is and how it works

First off, do you even know what a fax machine is?  Well itŐs a special machine that copies a paper and sends it to any other fax machine in the world.

Of course, fax machines donŐt work by magic.  They do however work by using scanners that scan the marks on the paper that turn into information in the fax machine.  Then the information is sent to another fax machine using the telephone line and the fax machine prints the information on the paper. ItŐs much better than mail.(howstuffworks.com)

Have you ever wondered how small you can make a fax machine?  Well, the smallest one ever made weighs less than 10 pounds and fits in a purse.  Sadly though, they canŐt use that much paper.  They arenŐt that amazing as they sound since itŐs hard to get paper for them. They can be a big pain.(findarticles.com)

 Buying and Using It

Have you ever wanted a fax machine?  Well if you want a cheap one itŐs about 50 dollars, If not, about 200 dollars.  As you can see, theyŐre not that cheap.

There are a lot of companies that sell fax machines.  Some of them include Xerox, Panasonic,

History and Future

Have you ever wondered when the fax machine was invented and who invented it? Well, Alexander Brain invented the fax machine in 1843.  Though Fredrick Bakewell made many improvements.(wikipedia)

Have you ever wondered if it was possible to duplicate a 3-D object and send it to any place in the world?  Well Stanford has almost done that by making a 3-D fax machine!  They have made an almost exact duplicate of a Buddha statue in only a few hours. They need to make it go faster if they want to make it efficient though.  Then it would be perfect. (graphics.stanford.edu)

Conclusion

So how do you feel about the fax machine now?     I hope you have learned some about what it is and how it works, Buying and using it, and the history and future of the fax machine.
