Eagle Eyes

By Super Girl

Suppose you entered a contest when you were 18 years old, and you won a cash prize of 3,000 dollars.  If you were tired of wearing your glasses, what would be a good way to spend your money?  Read my report to find out how LASIK works, what it does, some other facts about LASIK, and a little surprise.

What LASIK is and Does

This paragraph is about what Lasik is.  Lasik is an eye surgery, which uses a laser… -Because some people have an eye that is not shaped correctly. So they decide to get the LASIK surgery.  –Also… People who play sports probably will decide to get LASIK so that they don’t have to wear glasses, or contacts.

LASIK is used for those who don’t want to wear glasses, well; okay it is usually for people whose eyes are shaped incorrectly.

How LASIK Works

This paragraph is how Lasik Works.

A doctor will numb your eye, of course, not to have their patient feel the pain.  Next the doctor will cut your eye flap and then use a laser, and shape your eye, so that your eye will be shaped correctly… Finally!   Next, he/she will flip your eye flap back.  And you got LASIK.

According to docshop.com…  “What is LASIK? Used to correct refractive errors, LASIK eye surgery is a treatment that reshapes the cornea in order to produce clear vision. The LASIK refractive eye surgery procedure can treat myopia s(nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism, and reduce patients’ dependency on contact lenses and glasses.”

So LASIK really can help you see well.

History of LASIK

In this paragraph I have written some history of LASIK.   I am sure that Lasik is probably better now.  You know, a long time ago they didn’t have all types of medicine like we do today.  Back then, maybe they did it a different way… Like maybe they didn’t have some of the equipment that we have now a days, or, well it still could be the same.  (But history is important,) So I believe that it was different back then.  But maybe they didn’t even have LASIK back then!

This Is LASIK’S Name

This paragraph Will Explain About LASIK’S name.

I don’t know how LASIK got its name… (Maybe from what they do.) But according to, “http: Wikipedia.org,” LASIK stands for, “ Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis.”

Some Interesting Facts About LASIK

LASIK has some rules, so keep reading to find out about some of LASIK’S Rules.

LASIK has some rules, one question of mine is, how old do you have to be to have the LASIK surgery? –I found out… According to, “docshop.com…”  A good candidate for LASIK eye surgery must meet several general requisites. LASIK patients should be at least 18 years old, demonstrate no change in refraction for at least one year, and have realistic expectations regarding the results of LASIK eye surgery.”  So in other words, you have to be at least 18 or older to have LASIK surgery.

Here Is Another Interesting Fact About LASIK.

If you are going to drive in a car a long way, like on a vacation and you know that you need LASIK, for you have an eye that is shaped incorrectly, and your tired of loosing, or wearing glasses or contacts, then you should probably get LASIK.  If your eye is shaped very incorrectly, then that means you can’t see very well.  I would just like to say, do what is best for you, but remember that you can only have the LASIK surgery if you are

18 and older, and if you can have the LASIK surgery.  (–Which a Doctor will tell you if you can get that surgery.)  So choose your choices wisely.

LASIK’S Operation

This paragraph will give some information about what takes place before the operation does.  According to Wikipedia… (Before the operation takes place,)  “The operation is performed with the patient awake and mobile; however, the patient typically is given a mild sedative (such as Valium) and anesthetic eye drops.”  So I suppose that they give you medicine before they start the operation.

Also, according to, “EyeSTAR LASIK Institute...”

“The LASIK operation takes about 4 to 5 minutes per eye.”

So the company EyeSTAR says, that the LASIK eye surgery will only take a few minutes per eye!  Wow, I thought that it would take a few hours!  -And they are saying that it only takes a few minutes.  That is pretty cool.

I hope you learned something about LASIK.  And I also want to say; I hope you enjoyed my report.  LASIK is an important surgery, so just remember if you forgot about LASIK, then you can always ask me, or find out for yourself! Research really can help you in your life; you know… So I’m just going to say, we all are lucky, that we can learn. J
