THE IPOD, DUDE!!!

By Gene Simmons

Intro

Can you believe that I can fit over one hundred songs in something the size of a baby’s block? You will need to read this report to find out what I mean.  In this report you will learn what an ipod is and does, how an ipod works, and the history of the ipod.

What an iPod is and Does

You will be surprised at what an iPod is.  According to Tony Fadell an iPod is a small, cool device that plays music.  You can play games on it, and you can watch movies on it. Some of the ipods are about 2 inches, but some of them are a little smaller. The most original color is white but some can be red, black, gray, blue, and ect. The most likely price range for an ipod is $100.99 but sometimes they are different, sometimes they can be $100 etc.

You wont believe what an iPod can do.  An iPod can play music; you can play games on it, and you can watch movies on it. Or if you want to hear it on your car radio you can go to a store like radioshack or bestbuy and get this thing that you can plug into a radio and the other plug in on the other side into your ipod and then you just have to choose your song push play turn up your ipod and turn up your car radio and listen.

Have you ever wondered about what the word “iPod” means?  IPods are so famous that you can’t help but wonder where the name “iPod” came from.  According to Wikipedia, The name "iPod" came from a man named Vinnie.  He suggested they call it iPod because he liked this Science Fiction movie called "2001: A Space Odyssey."  In the movie, they had little white rooms called pods.  So, he thought they should call these new MP3 players iPods.

How an iPod Works

In this paragraph I will tell you about MP3s.  If you want to know how an iPod works, then you will need to know what an MP3 file is.  Back in the old days, people starting sharing music files over the Internet.  However, the problem was that the music files were so huge that it took a long, long time to download songs.  Someone figured out a way to “compress” files so they would download faster.  These compressed files are called MP3 files.  A compressed music file sounds almost like the regular one, but not quite as good.

Have you thought about how the iPod works?  When you first buy an iPod, you need to go to itunes (.com) download music and listen to it.

Think about the different parts of an iPod.  An iPod has several important parts.  First, it wouldn’t work very well with the hard-drive missing. And without the click wheel and the earphones it would be pretty hard to listen to.

The great History of the iPod

Take a guess about who invented the iPod.  Several people helped invent the iPod. But if you want to give credit to one person, then Tony Fadell is your man.  According to Mary Bellis, a guy named Tony Fadell, who used to work for General Magic and Phillips, wanted to invent a better MP3 player. After a few companies turned him down, he went to work for Apple and began working on the iPod (HowStuffWorks.com).  Steve Jobs, the boss of Apple, helped a lot with the project.

Can you believe how the iPod has improved over time?  When the iPod first came out, it only cost$100 and then they started getting better and more popular so they hired the cost for the ipod. One way that it has improved is that it can hold more songs. Another way it has improved over time is. that there is more types then just like the nano or the ipod shuffle.

In this paragraph I will tell you why the iPod was invented. In the old days, when they didn’t have ipods or mp3s they had to download music from napster (witch is now ILLEGEL) and it took FOR EVER. Also because they wanted a easier way to carry music around without a boom box and a lot of CD’s.

When was the ipod invented? I know when. In 2001, Apple introduced the iPod, an MP3 player with the unheard-of storage capacity of 5 gigabytes.
