Space shuttle history

This paragraph is about the first space shuttles. According to Craig Freudenrich the Columbia was the first space shuttle the go into space (howstuffworks.com). But there were three other space shuttles that were ready for takeoff at the same time as the Columbia. Those were the Challenger, the Atlantis, and the Discoverer.

This paragraph is about the space shuttle accident. According to Craig Freudenrich, in 1982, the space shuttle Challenger exploded. It was on its way back from its trip and was getting ready to land. It exploded and everyone on it was killed. (howstuffworks.com)

This paragraph is about the Columbia. According to Craig Freudenrich, the Columbia was the first space shuttle to go into space (howstuffworks.com). The Columbia took off in 1981. The passengers were the captain, William C. McCool, the payload, Iian Ramon, and the two mission specialist: David M. Brown and Laurel B. Clark.

A space shuttle is reusable so it can be reused as many times as it is in good shape. (howstuffworks.com)

This paragraph is about the other name for space shuttle. According to Craig Freudenrich, the space shuttle used to be called STS. (howstuffworks.com) STS stands for Space Transportation System.

This paragraph is how the space shuttle fighter jets are alike. The space shuttle and the fighter jets have the same space flight control. So this paragraph is going to be bout fighter jets. The first fighter jet to be used was the BF-109 Messerschmitt. It was invented in the Netherlands in 1936. It could go up to 460 kmph and weighed about 2050kg. It held 1 person and had 1 engine.
