Video games make you smarter

By The Sky Captain

Intro

Have you ever wondered if a type of magic from a whole different world may help you in the greatest time of need? Well, video games arenŐt really your greatest heroes, but maybe someone inside them is. This report is going to explain to you what they are, how they work, and the history. (After all these strange words, remember that my report is about video games!J)

What are video games?

This paragraph is about what the word video game means. According to the dictionary, the word video game is a noun, and it means: A game played by electronically manipulating images, produced by a computer program or on another display-game screen. I think itŐs awesome that they made games for computers, and TVŐs! (And on stuff like Xboxes, and PS3s, but we play them on TVŐs!J)

History of video games

This paragraph is about what year the first video game was invented. According to buzzle.com, the year 1947 Thomas T. Goldsmith and Estle Ray Mann made the first electronic interactive video game. It also says that Ralph H. Baer, also known as the father of video games, tried to put video games on a TV, but didn't succeed. I think that the person who invented video games was a genius! You would expect to have all the geniuses in this time, but they invented the first video game in 1947! WOW!!!

This paragraph is about why old video games are so dull. According to Jeff, Josh, Dan, Libe, and TJ on buzzle.com, in the year 1992 they decided to create all-new games that are made just with videos. They are videos, but they don't tell you what to do. Its like choose your own adventure, you make a choice, and they do the rest for you. Choose one choice-watch the video for each choice. They decided to make these because before 1992 they cost lots, and werenŐt that long. I am so glad that they invented new, awesome games, cause I would be long gone of boredom. I love computer games, most of all Alice Green Fingers. Even though that game is old, it shows some people still like old games.

This paragraph is about why they invented the 3DO. According to Jeff, Josh, Dan, libe, and TJ on buzzle.com, Trip Hawkins invented a device called the 3do in 1993, and to a company that he chose, he said "you should make the device, I should make the games. You can't sell a razor without the blade." He sold games without the 3do; the 3do couldn't sell without the games. He was thinking that he would earn lots of money, and he did. I feel bad for the company the produced 3do-they didnŐt sell that many.

This paragraph is about when the first computer game was out. According to Buzzle.com, Physicist William Higginbotham made a game called Tennis for two in 1958 that worked on an a-thil-i-scope screen. Back then when it was invented, computers were rare, and rarely anyone had them. But when Steve Russell at a collage called M.I.T, in 1961, invented the first game for computers, everybody wanted computers.

How video games work

This paragraph is about how video games prevent stress. Everybody has a bad habit or two (or six!) some peoples are playing video games. But...sometimes you get mad at the games (L), and you just throw them away. But other times, they help you calm down. Yes, video games can help stress. Sometimes if you come home mad, a little bit of fantasy or fighting can help you stay focused, and calm down.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              If you are on halo-or another game-youŐre a gamer. The thing is, a little bit of fantasy is just what you might want, as well as need.                                                                    During my brothers sixth grade year, he did a science experiment about how video games are good for you, and they are! (At least better than TV!J) I think itŐs awesome that my Bro did that-he got to stay up all night playing VIDEO GAMES!

This paragraph is asking if video games can make you smarter. According to my brother, Video Games can make you smarter. Along time ago, my brother did a science experiment about if video games make you smarter. Guess whatÉthey can! My brother invited a lot of his friends, and played video games for an hour, and then took a test. Then they watched a movie for and hour, and took the same test. All of their scores were better after they played video games! I wish I could do a experiment like that, he didnŐt even do his chores before playing with friends and watching TV and playing video games all day!

Conclusion

So, IsnŐt it weird that video games can prevent stress? I think itŐs awesome! Did you ever think to imagine that the first computer game was out in 1961?
